MISSIONS
COOPERATIVE BAPTIST FELLOWSHIP
“The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship is a Christian network of individuals and churches working together to spread the hope of Christ. Our diverse community includes partners all over the globe, and our fellowship supports a wide range of missions and ministries that give people meaningful opportunities to put their faith into action.”
FBC supports this mission by providing funds for Global Mission Offering, Alma Hunt Fund and for Field Personnel.
COOPERATIVE BAPTIST FELLOWSHIP OF VIRGINIA
“Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Virginia is a Christian network of churches and individuals motivated by Jesus Christ; inspired by our unique Baptist heritage; invested in forming healthy congregations; committed to mission engagement at home and abroad; and sustained by partnership and collaboration.”
FBC supports this mission by sending annual donations, as well as Pastor Christy serving CBF-VA on committies and boards on FBC’s behalf.
ST. LUKE COMMUNITY CLINIC
“St. Luke Community Clinic is a nonprofit, community-based organization of volunteers and professional staff committed to providing high-quality health care services to low-income, uninsured residents of Front Royal and Warren County, VA. St. Luke is a charitable-care clinic and charges a nominal fee for its services. The clinic provides chronic and acute care and is not equipped to treat medical emergencies.”
FBC sends financial support to this mission.
HOUSE OF HOPE MEN’S PROGRAM
“The only residential rehabilitation program serving men in Warren County, Virginia, opening the door to hope and housing.
Founded in 2008, House of Hope is a 24-hour facility at 724 Warren Avenue. The residence has 16 beds and is alcohol and drug free. We provide showers, food, clothing, laundry facilities, case management, consultation, referrals, job counseling, outreach and support on all levels, to nurture body, mind and soul.”
FBC sends financial support to this mission and provides meeting space for the board at no charge.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
“Habitat for Humanity partners with people in your community, and all over the world, to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With your support, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and for their families. Through our 2020 Strategic Plan, Habitat for Humanity will serve more people than ever before through decent and affordable housing.”
FBC sends financial contributions to this mission.
C-CAP
“The primary mission of C-CAP Front Royal is to provide essential, safety net, provisions during limited periods of need for Warren County families. The focus of this primary mission is on food and clothing. Within that focus C-CAP also provides special services such as the “Fresh Foods” program designed to serve all families, but particularly those with young children with no or limited access to fresh foods, produce, fruits and related nutritious food.
A secondary mission is designed around services for emergency and time-limited assistance for utility support and assistance with selected doctor ordered prescriptions. These services are very limited and available only when income donations are available to meet the demand for services. In all cases, C-CAP services are provided as a “safety net” for families passing through a period when they need the kinds of assistance C-CAP provides from year to year. C-CAP services will not be available to client for extended periods of time. All services are managed to ensure fairness and efficiency so that the majority of all donations go to those in need rather than for administrative overhead costs.”
FBC sends financial contributions to this mission.
LACES FOR FACES
“First Baptist Church started Laces for Faces in 2014 to provide tennis shoes to children in our area whose families do not have the means to purchase new shoes. If you have a child who needs tennis shoes for the new school year that is in elementary or middle school, gift cards will be available for the shoes while supplies last (children must be accompanied by an adult).”
HOPE AND REST TEMPORARY SHELTER (H.A.R.T.S) OF FRONT ROYAL, VA
“During the winter months it is very difficult to survive sleeping outside! However, there are members of our community who had no other option, until now. We began the Thermal Shelter of Front Royal for our homeless population, who have "fallen through the cracks,” to have a warm place to rest their heads at night, have food in their bellies, and know that there are people who care about them!”
FBC sends financial contributions to this mission, as well as providing meals two weeks a year for the shelter guests.
WARREN COUNTY BACKPACK PROGRAM
In November 2021, our church was made aware that E. Wilson Morrison had an additional 28 children that needed food assistance through the Backpack Program (over 100 already being helped). Since this was a new venture for us, a group of volunteers met with the Methodist Church to see how they did the program, and it was decided we could do it! Our team includes shoppers, packers, and deliverers. Each child receives their backpack of food on Fridays for the weekend and they typically include: two items for breakfast, two items for lunch, two items for dinner, and three items for a snack. Over holiday breaks, this could be up to 14 days of food instead of the three.
A sample backpack menu for the weekend would be cereal, breakfast bars, soup, Vienna sausages, mac-n-cheese, green beans, ravioli, applesauce, pack of PB crackers, and pack of cookies. We have been blessed with donations and the ability to purchase food at the Food Bank at a reduced rate.
First Baptist Church supports this mission by providing food, funds, and a meeting space for the board and members of church teams.
LITTLE ANGELS PRESCHOOL & DAYCARE
“Little Angels Preschool & Daycare's mission is to offer a high quality child care program, while serving as a model for the community, state, and nation.”
First Baptist Church houses Little Angels in our Education Building.
ANNA & LACOUNT ANDERSON - CBF FIELD PERSONNEL
Anna Anderson serves in Rocky Mount, NC alongside her husband, LaCount, who is the Executive Director of the Eastern North Carolina Poverty Network. Anna, commissioned in 2010, and LaCount in 2009 have maintained a focus of addressing poverty issues and priorities since coming to serve with CBF. The Andersons work in the northeastern part of North Carolina with Together for Hope, the rural development coalition founded by CBF over 20 years ago. They focus on providing poverty relief and finding more sustainable solutions to systemic poverty.
The Andersons do this work in a number of ways, including:
Food distribution
Poverty education: encouraging churches and other organizations to get involved in poverty relief
Supporting and partnering with other organizations, non-profits, and churches who are already addressing poverty priorities, such as housing needs and assistance with helping neighbors who struggle to meet basic needs
In 2023, FBC entered into a three-year covenant to support the Andersons in their work. They will also support us in our ministry here in Front Royal. We are excited about the many ways God will use this new partnership both in Eastern NC and here in Front Royal. We help support the Andersons by fundraising to support them.
BAPTIST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF VIRGINIA (BGAV)
“The work of ministry isn’t meant to be done alone. Pastors and their churches flourish when they come together to pursue God and build God's kingdom.
This is at the heart of what we do at Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV). We are a network of churches working together to grow the body of Christ and disciple people into a deeper relationship with Jesus. We provide collaboration, resources, and support to over 1,300 churches throughout the U.S. and around the world.”
FBC sends financial contributions to this mission.
THE JESUS FUND
Collected funds from FBC are combined with funds from other Front Royal churches to help our neighbors in need. The Jesus Fund is an initiative of the Front Royal/Warren County Ministerial Association.
THE SALVATION ARMY - FRONT ROYAL CORPS
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
FBC sends financial contributions to this mission, provides space for the Board Meetings, and provides the Fellowship Hall to host the annual Thanksgiving Meal every November at no cost.
